En el primer comunicado del RedBull Rampage, se a dado a conocer la fecha del evento...este sera en Octubre 2-5...

El lugar, luego de buscar por todo el planeta, se encontro a poco mas de 20km del original...El Parque nacional Zion en Utah sera el testigo de un evento con algunas cosas hechas por el hombre dandole pinceladas de Slopestyle al evento.

Los dias Jueves y Viernes estara abierto para los participantes (unicamente con invitacion) para que determinen sus lineas, ya el sabado los 26 corredores tendran 2 rounds para hacer su mejor presentacion...de ahi se escogeran los 14 mejores que se daran en pelea el dia Domingo por el premio de $25,000.oo.

Robbie Bourdon, 3er lugar del 2001, dijo cuando vio el lugar "...va a ser el evento mas "bestial" del planeta..."

In the first release we recieved on RedBull Rampage, the date has being revealed...October 2-5...

The location, after a world wide search, was found about 20miles from the original location...Zion National Park, Utah...will be the witness of some man-made stuff giving the event a little of slopestyle.

Thursday and Friday will be open for the riders (invitation only to race) so they can scout their lines for Saturday, where each will be giving 2 runs and will be pick the best 14 runs for the final on Sunday...for a purse of $25,000.oo to the winner...

Robbie Bourdon, 3rd at the 2001 event, check the location and only said..."They're going to bring slopestyle riding and big mountain riding together...and it's going to turn into the sickest contest ever."

Bueno, este es otro de los videos que llamamos "Wicked Rides"... En esta oportunidad, fuimos a tirar algunas tomas al Riding Ranch en Heredia, luego fuimos al "estreno" de la nueva linea del Downhill del Monte de La Cruz y tambien fuimos de ride al Volcan Barva...

Con bastantes riders, caidas, drops, bastante vacilonn y vegetacion....hicimos el segundo video, espero les guste y nos vemos en la tercera parte...

Sam Hill el Rey del Canadian Open en Crankworx

Pues si...

La ciudad de British Columbia en Canada, propiamente el ski resort Whistler, fue testigo de otra conquista de Sam Hill en el Crankworx Canadian Open DH y asi cerrar una semana donde las llantas no pararon de dar espectaculos al mundo...

Con mas de 260 corredores y una pista que tiene un nivel de campeonato mundial, Sam Hill con un tiempo de 3:09.6 dejo el segundo lugar a su rival de siempre Gee Atherton con 3:11.2 y el tercero fue para el local Chris Kovarik con un crono de 3:17.4.... Lo interesante de todo, fue que esta ocasion fue un solo "run" para cada corredor, un solo chance...

"Me tomo un rato sentirme comodo en la pista...trate de no detenerme mucho en las curvas y agarrarlas donde podia ganar" dijo Hill al final de la compe.

El el lado femenino Rachel Atherton vuelve a llevarse el primer lugar con 3:45.8, Tracy Moseley se llevo el segundo lugar con 3:47.3 y el tercero fue para la local Katie Holden con tiempo de 4:01.1.

Kokanne Crankworx cierra asi su semana, donde la Familia Atherton tuvo una increible semana de eventos ganados...muchas nuevas bicicletas para el 2009, muchas memorias y una increible demostracion de lo que ha llegado a ser el "extreme bike" que acapara cada dia mas adeptos...

Well Folks...

Just as you imagine (if you don't know too much spanish... :) )... British Columbia was witness of the new win from Sam Hill at the Canadian Open DH...and with this event, closing one exciting week for the bike lovers...

With more than 260 racers and a worth to be World Cup track, Sam Hill took first with a time of 3:09.6, second was Gee Atherton with 3:11.02 and third to local Chris Kovatik with 3:17.4....but the interesting thing, was that racers had only one chance to nail the best time possible, no room for errors...

"It took a while to get comfortable with the course...I tried not to stall in corners and hang it out where I could to get the win." says Sam at the end of the race...

In the female race, once again, Rachel Atherton proves to be the woman to beat with a time of 3:45.8, second for Tracey Moseley with 3:47.3 and another local Katie Holden stop the clock at 4:01.1...

So with this event, Whistler and Kokanee Crankworx closes one heck of a week...the Atherton family proves what they are made of...Lots of previews for 2009 bikes....lots of memories....and a demostration of what "extreme biking" has evolve...

VW trick show y un Greg Minaar que muestra la humanidad

Kokanee Crankworx tuvo un par de dias muy ataviados con lo mejor de los trucos y el GIANT Slalom que seguramente va a pasar a la historia como la carrera mas emocionante de la historia de Crankworx...

El VW fueron 2 sessions de 45 minutos en dos diferente escenarios para demostrar quien tenia los mejores trucos, el ganador fue Casey Groves que se llevo $3,000.oo con un impresionante truco en la primera sesion, ya en la segunda el ganador fue Greg Watts...

Por otro lado, el GIANT Slalom, con una pista colmada de rampas y fuertes peraltes fue dominado a placer por un Greg Minaar que queria revancha al quedar segundo en el evento anterior...y la caida dura de Brian Lopes ayudo a ello PERO lejos de la competencia, Greg demostro el profesionalismo primero, y paro en media competencia para ver si Lopes se encontraba bien....Lopes se dejo la segunda posicion y Gee Atherton se dejo la tercera casilla...
Minaard dijo al final "Fue una carrera muy cerrada en el primer round...es una carrera cansada, y ambos dimos todo, al final es bueno ganar"

En el lado femenino fue dominado por Anneke Beerten, segundo fue para Sheryl McLeod y el tercero fue para Helene Fruhwirth. De acuerdo a Anneke "Fue una buena carrera y una buena pista...he estado entrenando todo el invierno en pistas de BMX y creo que al final pago todo el esfuerzo del anno"

Kokanee Crankworx live 2 days of adrenaline rush as its best with the VW Trick show and the GIANT Slalom that will go down as one of the most exciting finals in the Crankworx history.

With two 45 minute sessions, the VW trick show started off and was a delight to everybody including the judges...at the end Cedar Groves took first in the first leg and Greg Watts took first in the second leg, both took home $3,000.oo.

On the other hand, the GIANT Slalom was a thrill to watch...rough turns, high octane bikes and riders Greg Minnar took revench and claim the first place over Brian Lopes, like if the speed wasn't enought thrill to spectators, Lopes took a hard crash, Greg Minaar stopped in the middle of the race and check on his partner for then take the first place, a awesome show of sportman. Minaar "The race was close in the first round...It's a tiring race and we were both giving it our all, its good to win."

On the women side Anneke Beerten claimed first, Sheryl McLeod second and Helene Fruhwirth third... "It was a good race and a good course," says Beerten. "I've been training all winter on the BMX track and it really paid off this year."

Las revelaciones de Crankworx...

Bueno, Crankworx no es solo competiciones, saltos, trillos, caidas, ect...

Kona revelo sus nuevos modelos de bicicletas para el 2009...15 modelos mas que el 2008 (88 en total), donde sus modelos Coilair y Magic Link tuvieron algunos cambios en su estructura como una "pipa" de 1.5"-1 1/8"....La Dwags viene con 6" mas de recorrido para hacerla mejor en su triangulo trasero.

La noticia de mas relevancia sin duda es la descontinuacion de los modelos The Four y Kinkapu, que fueron relevados por 4 modelos nuevos con un recorrido trasero de 120mm, estos son de la gama llamada ONE20 (Supreme, Primo, One20, Deluxe, en order de tope de linea para abajo).

La famosa Stinky, viene con un poco menos de recorrido, pero con una mejorada geometria que la hace mas "friendly" para subir nuevamente pedaleando a las cimas, esto con ayuda de la nueva version de Truvatic HammerSchmitt.

Bueno, un comunicado de la organizacion salio hoy...POR FAVOR, tratemos de que los vehiculos queden estacionados en el area designada para ello en la META, arriba en la salida tratar de que nos dejen en el Centro Recreativo Monte de La Cruz y asi evitar congestionamientos viales en esa estrecha via...

Esto viene a raiz que los vecinos del Residencial les gusto mucho todo, quedaron bastantes contentos con la organizacion del evento, ya que no se dejo basura ni nada por el estilo, PERO si se quejaron que muchas personas parquearon sus vehiculos en la entrada al residencial mientras cargaban y descargaban bicicletas lo que causo que varios de ellos reclamaran esto a la organizacion y por ende que peligre alguna otra fecha alli por cuestiones de permisos.

Se les agradecerias de verdad que por favor tomen las medidas para evitar esto...y puedes visitar y dejar tu comment en el Foro..

Jim Beam Air AH....Brian Lopez rips it up!!!

Por tercer año consecutivo, Brian Lopez se deja el primer lugar con un impresionante tiempo de 4:22.10, un poco mas de 1seg que el resto de competidores...incluyendo al mismisimo Greg Minnar con un tiempo de 4:23.42 se proclamo segundo y el tercero fue para otro ingles Marc Beaumont con 4:28.77.

Despues de mas de 100 saltos, Brian dijo "A-Line es una increible pista para disfrutar, pero cuando llega a competir en ella, necesitas estar "filoso"...es una pista tecnica y con el nivel de corredores que habian, cualquier error cuenta"

En la rama femenina, la local Rebecca McQueen se dejo el primer lugar con 4:51.05; otra canadiense Micayla Gatto se dejo el segundo con 4:51.82 y Stephanie Nychka se dejo el tercer lugar con 4:53.59.

De acuerdo a Rebecca, "es una pista muy divertida y simplemente le "puse"...creo que la lluvia que cayo en dias anteriores le ayudo mucho.."

For third straight year, Brian Lopez rips Whistler in the Jim Beam DH AIR....with an impressive time of 4:22.10, Lopez left behind another superstar Greg Minnar who took second with a time of 4:23.42 and third was for Marc Beaumont with 4:28.77.

According to Brian..."A-Line is a really great trail to ride, but when it comes to racing on it, you need to be on point...It's a technical race and with the level of riders here, every mistake counts."

In the Women category, local Rebecca McQueen claimed first with a time of 4:51.05; Micayla Gatto took second with a time of 4:51.82 and Stephanie Nychka took third with a time of 4:53.59.

Rebecca also said good things on the trail..."I love A-Line...It's a fun course and I just charged it. I think the rain we had the other day helped the course a lot."

Los ATHERTONs hacen el Finde en Crankworx

Los hermanos Atherton (Gee & Rachel) saborearon las mieles del primer lugar en sus categorias en el Monster-Energy Garbanzo Downhill en el famoso parque Whistler en Canada.

Con una de las pistas mas dura, larga e impresionante, Gee Atherton descendio mas de 1.000 metros de altitud (3,400 pies de descenso) en 14:20.04 minutos, Sam Hill cronometro 14:37.08, el tercer lugar fue para Marc Beumont (14:44.06)....y el cuarto para otro del clan Atherton...Dan con un tiempo de 14:50.0

En las entrevistas Gee & Sam dieron cuenta de lo dificil que se puso la pista, segun Gee "habiamos practicado con la pista seca, pero la lluvia llego y cambio todo lo planeado, tuvimos que simplemente tomar lineas nuevas y darlo todo"....Por su parte, Sam Hill, que tuvo un accidente en medio de la pista que lo dejo sin zapato dijo "para comenzar esta no es una pista facil...y la lluvia la hizo aun mas complicada"

Rachel dio sus comentarios al igual que la rama masculina..."Esta pista es como 3 veces mas larga que lo que estoy acostumbrada en las copas mundiales...tienes que estar muy concentrado and tan larga y dura pista"

This was the headlines on one of the longest, most grueling downhill course in mountain biking with a one trail descending 3,400 feet from top to bottom...just cruel!!!

"We practiced on dry trails well before the race, so when the rain came, it changed everything," says first place winner Gee Atherton. "You had to pick new lines and just go for it."

On the other hand Sam Hill said... "This was not an easy track to begin with and the weather made it even tougher...I had a crash in the middle of the course and one of my shoes came off, I had to stay strong and keep motivated to make up the time."

Rachel comments on the course were no different..."This course is like three times as long as what I'm use to on the world cup...You really need to stay focused on such a long, hard course."

Ya comienza a calentar el evento del año en la comunidad canadiense, y Freeride & Downhill Costa Rica dara covertura del evento...

Con un line-up lleno de luminarias del Freeride mundial, como Sam Hill (campeon 2007 Garbanzo DH y campeon mundial DH 07'), Brian Lopez (Jim Beam 07' champ), el clan Atherton (Dan, Gee y Rachel) asi como otros mas, el evento calienta como nunca antes visto...

Segun el comunicado de prensa, Jeremy Roche (Gerente del evento) dice que "lo mas impresionante es que este año tenemos la participacion de 1,000 amateurs que se daran codo a codo con sus idolos" excepto en el Slopestyle Jump.

Otro dato impresionante es que contaran con la presencia de Big Bear Timing, una de las mejores compañias en el mundo de toma de tiempos en competiciones, muchos eventos masivos en su haber, incluyendo el Sea Otter.

Bueno, este video es la primera de una serie de videos que vamos a tratar de sacar... Me aburri de practicar XC y me decidi hacer Freeride/DH, asi que, esto es apenas el inicio de algo bueno (espero!!)

Fuimos a practicar al Downhill del Monte de La Cruz para la fecha de Invierno, pero llegue tarde y los muchachos ya estaban mas que fogueados con la pista, yo baje una vez y nos fuimos al Riding Ranch, la ya famosita finca llena de rampas y trillos de Heredia...y esto fue parte de lo que sucedio...Mucha gente habia este dia...

Well, this is the first of a series we hope to shoot...I got bored on practicing XC, so I decided to move to Freeride/DH, so this is the beggining of something good (I hope!!)

We went to practice at the Monte de La Cruz downhill course were will be taken the winter contest, but I got late there so the boys had already gone enought, so I took the course just once and we head over to the now famous farm for Freeride/DH called "Riding Ranch" here in Heredia...and this is part of what happened...lots of people that day...

Nigh Ride Cerro Dantas

Hola amigos...

Bueno, nuevamente con otra loquera de esas marca diablo... Hacia mucho queria hacer este ride de noche, pero por lo dificil del terreno y el factor que se cruzan varios rios y antes del llegar al refugio Cerro Dantas existe varios puentes no muy saludables, me habia resistido a invertarlo...pero bueno, me lo propuse y se inscribieron unos cuantos locos mas... Y como dice el autor de la musica BLACK LEGEND... "You'll see trouble with me"

El clima estaba extremo, habia caido muchisima lluvia toda la tarde, pero igual, salimos a las 7pm como lo acordado, y la aventura dio inicio. Subimos hasta el sector de Getsemani, 10km habiamos recorrido y ya habiamos tenido la primera desviacion por factores climaticos...un rio crecido...seguimos y nos desviamos y llegamos al potrero, que aca la vista es hermosa, luego salimos y llegamos hasta el punto mas alto del tobogan de barro para adentrarnos en el Lado Oscuro de Dantas, ese sector selvatico, impedaleable y lleno de mucha agua y barro. Aca se cobraron muchas fuerzas, pero logramos salir airosos de alli y enrumbarnos hasta la famosa Antena del cerro, de ahi, todo para abajo (3km) bajo un cielo ahora despejado y una Luna que nos abrazaba con su luz, un momento magico en medio de la selva a la 1:30am...7horas y 30minutos despues, dejamos atras 22km de pura adrenalina y aventura, un ride como ningun otro nocturno que yo conozca...

Well, another crazy ride...a wicked one!!... For a long time I have always wanted to do this ride at night, but for the hars terrain, some rivers we have to cross and the fact that right before the shelter (refuge) are various bridges in some way bad shape, I have always deny myself for doing so...but, I make my way to accomplish it along with some other "just like me crazy folks"... and like the author of the song BLACK LEGEND says... "You'll see trouble with me"

The weather was extreme, huge rain fall during the afternoon, but we kept the departure time at 7pm and the adventure begun... We climb up to Getsemani, about 10km we had passed and we had already took a detour becuase of the weather...flooding river...we went on and got to the "potrero", here the view is just speachless, then we move on to "tobogan de barro" highest peak and head it to the "Dark side of Cerro Dantas", a wild-deep in the jungle trail, imposible to ride and full of mud and water. Here the strenghts were mild down but we manage to get out and head north to the shelter...3KM of the most beautiful trail I've ever ride...clear sky and full moon with a shiny light, a magic moment deep in the jungle at 1:30am...after 7hours and 30minutes we reach the refuge, we leave behind 22km of adrenaline rush and adventure in its best, like no other night ride I ever hear...

Endurance Atenas 2008

Con la presencia de dos campeones suramericanos, un Deiber relegado a un segundo lugar y un clima misericordioso, paso la Tercera Fecha de la Copa de MTB Endurance (Pipasa).

Una ruta rompepiernas puso a prueba hasta a los de mayor experiencia, una subida a Grifo Alto que paso facturas por doquier, un DH apto para suicidas, retorno hasta Atenas fue eterno y duro para los pedalista...Y un SINGLE TRACK EPICO...eso nos deparo esta Fecha de Endurance, una Fecha UCI...


With the presence of two southamerican champions, Deiber Esquivel left to second place and benevolent weather, stage 3 of Copa Endurance (Pipasa) of MTB took place.

A broke legs route, it tested even the experience cyclist, a climb up to Grifo Alto that took its people down, a suicidal DH, a long, hard and neverending return to Atenas...an EPIC SINGLE TRACK...this left us this stage of Copa Endurance, an UCI Stage...

Subimos haciendo XC ride hasta un lugar llamado Riding Ranch, una finca con bastantes varas para hacer Freeride...
